Recruitment Announcement: Ultrafast Electron Microscopy End-station of the Advanced Attosecond Laser Facility

The Attosecond Science Center is located in Dongguan, an important node city in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, adjacent to the China Spallation Neutron Source. Focusing on the forefront of the cross-development of ultrafast science and materials science, and driven by their combination, it carries out research on a new generation of advanced ultrafast laser technology, ultrafast property measurement, and ultrafast science. The center aims to build a research highland for ultrafast science and technology characterized by ultrafast time-resolved materials science research.

The Advanced Attosecond Laser Facility is a national major scientific and technological infrastructure project during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, undertaken by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). It layouts 10 beamlines and 22 application end-stations, among which 6 beamlines are constructed by the Institute of Physics (IOP), CAS in Dongguan. The construction of the facility officially started in Dongguan, Guangdong in January 2025, and is expected to be completed within 5 years. The ultrafast transmission electron microscopy (UTEM) end-station will combine attosecond lasers with transmission electron microscopes to develop a new generation of UTEM technology with higher spatiotemporal resolution. This will enable attosecond-level tracking, measurement, and manipulation of electron/atom motions, boosting frontier basic research in materials science in China. Due to work requirements, we are currently seeking outstanding talents.
